It must suck to be on the PC side of the fence… constantly chasing specs.  That is the nature of the beast though.  The Asus Zenbook line of high-end Ultrabooks is at it again with their latest refresh.  The Asus Zenbook NX500 comes loaded with higher end specs most notably the new 4k display.  Read on for more Zenbook NX500 details.

At first glance the Zenbook NX500 looks like a flattering copy of the Apple MacBook Pro.  The body is machined from aluminum and uses a unibody construction… again, like the MacBook Pro.  Fingers crossed they figure out how to keep the heat out of this aluminum chassis.   The display is a 15.6-inch (3840 x 2160) IPS panel which has an impressive 282 pixels per inch.  Yes, this is 62 pixels better than the 15-inch Apple Retina display.

As the first ASUS notebook with a 4K/UHD display with VisualMaster technology, Zenbook NX500 delivers stunningly crisp graphics and text, and comes ready to support future 4K video content. Its 15.6-inch 3840 x 2160 resolution IPS panel provides a large workspace for maximum efficiency and productivity. The display also delivers lifelike color reproduction with a wide color gamut (100% NTSC/108% Adobe RGB) and, plus factory-calibrated color temperature, making it perfect for photographers and other professionals who need accurate and consistent color fidelity for their workflows.

The NX500 is going to be powered by Intel Core processors up to the 17 quad core.  Video graphics will be powered by NVidia GeForce GTX 850M GPU’s with up to 2GB’s of GDDR5 video memory.  Storage options include SATA 3 RAID 0 or PCIe x4 SSD.

This is the first Asus laptop with a 4K/UHD display.  You can expect super crisp graphics, text, and video from this 15.6-inch display.  Lastly, the Zenbook NX500 comes with titanium-film speakers and SonicMaster audio technology (Band & Olufsen technology), so we think the audio should be great as well.

Time will tell how it all comes together… but if specs alone could speak for themselves, they can’t, things look pretty solid with the new Asus Zenbook NX500.   Don’t expect all of this goodness to come cheap.  Price has not been released, yet.
